Thank Goodness

I finally finished!!! Two of my articles (teen obesity and the journalism camp) got screwed up so I had to rewrite them (I had to rewrite the teen obesity one twice). It was so annoying. My fingers are about to fall off. But it was really fun and I can't wait to see the finished product. It will be so cool reading everyone's articles.
I've pretty much finished all my stories, and I feel pretty good about them. My first one, about the UGA tennis player who won the NCAA singles championship, is my favorite, I think. Although, I really like my other two also, which are about how heat affects athletes and Meghan Walsh, a fellow camper and triathlon runner. I've really enjoyed the camp and have gotten so much out of it, especially with experience. I'm not sure what I'll do tonight or tomorrow considering I've finished everything, but I really hope everything turns out great. Can't wait to see the final product!

FINALLLYYY!

Thank goodness most of my articles have been finished...Budget cuts article: check....Economy affecting college life with Asia Thomas: check, so the only story I'm really waiting for is me and Julian's article about the Georgia Journalism Academy. Coming back as a 2nd year vet in the News writing class is pretty sweet because I'm writing more and working with two awesome and the most kindest and hard working people. Plus, I know what I'm doing now compared to last year where I nearly sucked! I'm just happy that I was able to keep my focus after what 3 or 4 hours of sleep :) Extremely proud of the News team..Nice work you guys!!! :) :)

Finishing our articles :)

Most of our class has finished our articles. Wow, what a relief! lol. It was a little stressful, but we all worked as a team. I'm excited to see the outcome.

New Stories

So many stories so little time. We will catch a few and let a few fly away in the wind. We've collected a good selection without focusing to much on the chaos, crisis, debt, etc. After all, the World Cup will open this week, texting is out, we are all at the Jouralism Academy and new iphones. Please help out the news writers and give them your stories. If you love soccer and are planning to follow the World Cup, please let us know. If you are going to be going to school for longer days or a shorter week or know about other budget cuts, let us know. If you have made changes to your life because of the economy let us know. Have a great evening!
I'm in News Writing Class; working on THREE articles. :) One with Olivia Murphy. We are sharing an article that focuses on how the economy affects college life and budgeting. We have efficient information and ideas for questions, we just need interviews. Hopefully tomorrow, we can interview UGA students and Terry College Business Professors. Also, I'm working on an article about texting and driving. Our governor, Sonny Perdue, signed the Caleb's Law (Senate Bill 360). This new law states that drivers who are caught reading, writing or sending any kind of text message, including emails, can now face a $150 fine and a point on their driver's license. However, teens caught using their phones while driving face the same $150 fine but if an accident occurs, the fine doubles. The law goes into effect on July 1. The talk about the new law is very interesting. I'm excited about interviewing Journalism Academy students and anyone who would like to express their outlook on the law and how it will change casualties and statistics. :) Last but not least, I'm also writing about Facebook Ads. So if you would like to tell me any info, let me know :) :)
So now that I have three different articles that I'm writing about (Economy affecting college life, the Journalism Academy, and Long days with short school calendars), I've been focusing on getting as research done and contacting as many people as I can. So far, i've contacted Professor harold Mulherin for my economy affect college article with Asia and I plan on talking to a few 2-year participants for my Journalism Academy article with Jullian. For my own article, I plan on reading as much as I can and finding out the different schools in the counties that are most affected and talking to students within the Academy that actually go to these schools. If your school is in any of these districts: Clarke County, Jefferson County, Barrow County, Commerce City, Jackson County,Madison County, Oglethrope County or any metro-Atlanta schools, that would be so helpful!!! I think I can handle three articles due in one week, its a lot of pressure, but I'm ready for it.
